Heart Detox

We are on vacation(stay-at-home, I mean). Hooray!!!!

As I prepare myself to 2016 I finished the book I got from Kerygma Conference.  Hindi ko matapos tapos ang pagbabasa because of the holiday season. And I got a chance today.  Yippee, I'm done and I'd love to share it to you.

But first, I want to share a moment and how I learned from kids.

We had this traditional family lunch.  Me, my hubby, my two sons and their cousin.  To open a conversation, I asked everyone one question about welcoming 2016.

"What will you do to make your 2016 better than 2015?"

My eldest son said, "I will practice guitar more to make me good in playing guitar."

My second son said, "I will study harder to have a better grades."

How about you(cousin), what will you do to make you better next year?

She started crying..... she said, she want her Mom to stay with her.  She don't know what she can do to make it happen.

OMG, my heart crashed and we all caught in silence seeing her with her #hugot.

We comforted her and shared some wisdom that an 11-year old girl can understand.

I know that she wanted to avoid that kind of situation but there's nothing she can do but to answer a Ninang like me.  She wanted help.  Whoops!!! I am in heavy heart.  In what way can we help her, all she want is a complete and a happy family.

Haaayyy!!!! Life isn't easy.  Full of worries, anxieties, fears, hopelessness, bitterness, insecurities, despair and all other emotional issues.

With all that, we want change.  We want to have a life that is sweet, happy, successful and hopeful.

But there is one question, are you ready to get rid of the garbage that you've carried in your heart for many years???

Yes, we need a heart detox for us to be healthy physically, emotional, mentally and spiritually.  This book is perfect on how are you going to welcome 2016.  Knowing how to handle toxic feelings, how to manage most difficult emotions and how to overcome bitterness, pettiness, despair, insecurity, worry and fear.

Here are the snippets from the book to have some overview on what you can read inside.

"Pause. Ponder. Pray.  because wisdom doesn't shout.  Wisdom speaks in whispers.  It's only when you're quiet inside that you'll hear the faint voice of wisdom speak to you."

"Be still, peace.  Let God give you great calm.  Emotional detachment.  Inner peace.  And when you have inner peace, you can hear God's voice and obey Him."

"And if you do what you have to do, something changes in you. If you change your acting, change your feeling.  If you change your motion, you change your emotion.  If you change your physiology, you change your psychology."

"When people hurt you, offend you, stress you----remember that you're a giant.  You're too big to be bothered by small things."

Modern psychologists are wrong when they say, "to deal with anger, you need to express it.  You need to let it out.  Shout, stomp, punch the wall.  Because when your bucket of anger is empty, it's gone." Problem: You don't have a bucket of anger, you have a faucet of anger.  As long as it's open, anger will flow out.  You won't run out of danger.  The more you express your anger, the more anger you create.  Again, it's the Law of Reciprocity.

What should you do?

Switch faucets!  Here's the only solution:  Close the faucet of anger and open the faucet of love!  Admit you're angry but give love instead.  Because aggression creates more aggression, but love creates more love.

How to love your enemy?

1. Do good to those who hate you.  Serve them. Give them gift.
2. Bless those who curse you.  That means don't gossip against your enemy.  Instead, speak well of him.  Speak the good things in his life.
3. Pray for him.  Pray for his well-being and prosperity.

Believe me, all that goodness you give him will bounce back to you---pressed down, shaken together and running over!

All of us dream to have inner peace, happiness, healthy body, more love and hope.  But there are situations that is out of our control and so it's important that we detoxify our heart for us to be ready for bad emotions that our environment bring us.  It's just a matter of how we handle our complicated life.

Stop worrying and start wishing.

Live with expectations.

Expect to be blessed!

8 Secrets of the Truly Rich:11th of my Books to read

Hi Yamisweeters!

Finally, I found time to post my review about my 11th books to read.  Busy eh! At palagi namang busy, kailangan lang talagang isingit sa schedule ang mga bagay na nakakapagpasaya sa akin.  Like this thing, sharing my thoughts about what I have read.

8 Secrets of the Truly Rich is another book of Bo Sanchez .  You know why I love reading Bro. Bo's books?  Because, it is easy to read yet so inspiring at nakakabrainwash talaga. Nakaka-enlighten ng faith and belief plus madami talaga akong natututunan. He has a lot of stories that I can totally relate and can understand easily.

This book enlightened my views concerning wealth.  Parang Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad.  It is true that this book will change your inner software.  I gained right attitude towards wealth with spirituality.  I got some tips on how to achieve financial success na dream ko naman talaga.  He explained that dreaming to be rich or wealthy is not equal to materialism.  Being truly rich is being wealthy in all other areas of life: love, family and spirituality.

Bro. Bo shared the 8 Secrets, so it's no longer a secret now. Haha! And here are some of the principles he shared.

"You become what you repeatedly do.  You become poor because you have a poor man's money habits."

"At the end of the day, who you are doesn't count.  It's who you think you are that determines your success."

"God needs godly people who will run businesses, give jobs, and bless the world with great services and great products."

"By writing you dreams, you open yourself to life's river of abundance.  But when you read what you wrote down daily, you multiply the power of that river tenfold."

"The universe adjusts to your expectations.  So instead of you searching for money, let money search for you. Attract money.  Become a money magnet."

"Famine will always come.  So prepare for it."

"The greatest income reducer in your life right now may be your TV set."

"If you want to be rich, use your core gift with passion."

"Your first profit in any business is financial wisdom, not money."

"Spend 80% of your time in marketing and 20% of your time in developing your product."

"For pioneers, perfectionism is never a good strategy."

"Do you know the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful persons?  The successful person has failed 10 times more than the unsuccessful person."

"The more I give, the more I receive.  This is a law written in the fabric of the universe."

To know more about these principles, go grab and read this book.  Hindi kayo magsisisi na binasa nyo ito. He cited step by step guide how to be financially and spiritually healthy.   It will help you realize how money works to live a LIFE not make a living.

Bro. Bo ended his book with an advice.

"Keep learning.  Read books on money.  Attend seminars on money.  Get mentors and financial coaches."

Remember: You create your future by your choice today!

Syempre naman, totoo naman talaga yun at alam nating lahat na nasa choice natin ang future natin.  Pero ano ba ang choice natin?  Stay poor or be truly rich?  Minsan kasi feeling natin rich na tayo, kasi nakakakain na tayo sa fine dining, we travel, we wear branded clothes, we have the latest gadget, we have cars, we live in condominium, we meet friends at Starbucks.  Pero ano nga ba ang sukatan ng wealth?

Since me and my hubby already read this book, we have the same level of thinking about wealth.  We realized that the measure of wealth is how long can we survive without a job.  Can we travel to Europe for two months?  Can I just stay at home and focus on parenting my children?  Can we retire at age forty and enjoy life together?  Can I still give tithes even without a job? Huhuhu! We are so poor because our financial literacy is not enough.  We spend a lot for things that are not so valuable.  Haaayy!  Reality bites! Awwwww!

Learning really matters.  It's not late to be financially literate but it has to come up with spirituality.

Make a choice today, Yamisweeters!

Is Your Love Tank Empty?: 10th of my Books to Read

Hi there Yamisweeters!  Cheers and let's enjoy the Christmas season.

While enjoying the season, I have to continue my reading goal which I neglected for quite sometime because of busy schedules.  My 10th book to read is by Bo Sanchez.  I think it is his newest book.  He launched it last Sunday at "The Feast" and I was able to buy it at P200.00 and luckily with his autograph. hihi!

Who is Bo Sanchez?  For those who don't know Bro. Bo.  He is a much sought-after Catholic lay preacher and best selling author of 40 books.  As a public speaker and servant of God,  he has received recognitions from prestigious award-giving bodies in the Philippines.  But over and above all these,  he considers his relationship with his wife, Marowe, and two sons, Benedict and Francis, as his greatest achievement in life.  They live in Manila, Philippines.

By mere looking/reading at its title,  what do you think it's all about?  Sabi ni Kuya Eugene(the building guard),  Mam, bakit ka nagbabasa nyan?  Ibig sabihin kulang pa yung pagmamahal mo sa asawa mo?  I told him that it's not ONLY all about loving your spouse.  It's about loving GOD and loving like GOD.  If we can imitate how GOD loves us haaaay naku, hayahay ang buhay!

This book makes me realized my shortcomings as wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, co-worker and citizen of my country. This book is really nakakabait.  Ang dami kong na-discover about myself.  We need deep spirituality to find the real happiness.  And the best thing is I have all the chances to make my love tank full and live the life I really want.

And here is what you can expect from this book.  It's a good read and very nice gift idea for this season.

"God created a love tank inside you.

Yes, you have a love tank in your heart and it longs to be filled up.  Do you know of adults who still act like their children?  They throw tantrums, become needy or angry.  Maybe you feel this way, too.  At the root of your problems is an empty love tank.
It makes you susceptible to addictions and idolatrous relationships where you make another person your source of love.
Relationships get cursed when you seek from another person something that only God can give---your fulfillment, satisfaction, happiness,  inner peace and completeness.
Here's the truth: Only God's love can fulfill your deepest needs!  Seek your self-worth, deepest fulfillment, real happiness, satisfaction, and strength from Him.
The moment God's love becomes the only foundation of your life,  you can love others from a position of peace, not anguish.  From a position of completeness, not lack.  From a position of trust, not control.  You start loving others genuinely because your heart is filled with God's love.
Life is all about relationships--your relationship with God and others.  This book will teach you how to have loving relationships:

  • Have a Marriage That is Full of Grace
  • Parent from a Strong Foundation of God's Love
  • Effectively Handle a child's Tantrums
  • Honor your parents Even When It's Difficult
  • Control Yourself and Submit to Others
  • Love Those Who Hurt You
  • Show Unconditional Love

Let God fill your empty love tank so that you can love others from a heart that is filled with real love."

Now, do you want to know if your love tank is full or empty?  Grab a copy now!

#GIRLBOSS: 9th of my Books to Read

Hello Yamisweeters!  I am here again, completing my reading goal.(lol!) Aja! I'm surviving. hahaha!

Tada......... #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
Photo from www.abeautifulmess.com
This book is a success story of Sophia Amoruso, the CEO of Nasty Gal. I found this book so perfect for me in line with my personal goals.  Sophia's FOCUS on her goal caught me.  It inspires me a lot because of her notable and practical advices.  I am happy to share some of it.

Advice # 1: The more you experiment, take risks and make mistakes, the better you'll know yourself, the better you'll know the world, and the more focused you'll be.

Advice # 2: Confidence is more attractive that anything you could put on your body.

Advice # 3: Abandon anything about your life and habits that might be holding you back.  Learn to create your own opportunities.  Know that there is no finish line;  fortune favors action.

Advice # 4: Money spells F-R-E-E-D-O-M.  If you learn to control your finances,  you won't find yourself stuck in jobs, places or relationships that you hate just because you can't afford to go elsewhere. (Ouch! for this)

Advice # 5: Each time you make a decision or do something nice or take care of yourself; each time you show up to work and work hard and do your best at everything you can do, you're planting seeds for a life that can only hope will grow beyond your wildest dreams.

Advice # 6:  Take care of the little things.  Even the little things that you hate and treat them as promises to your won future.

Advice # 7: We choose what and how we believe, and our beliefs are tools that we then use to make things happen......or not.

Advice # 8: Your challenge as a #GIRLBOSS is to dive head first into things without being too attached to the results.  When your goal is to gain experience, perspective and knowledge, failure is no longer a possibility.  Failure is your invention.

Advice # 9: Create your own job.  Become the master of what you do.  Fully immerse yourself in your culture.  Be humble.  Never forget where you came from.  And always be polite.  Good old-fashioned manners can get you very far.

Advice # 10: Look up and look around, and if you're not finding something inspiring, then you're probably not looking hard enough.

It was fun reading it.  You'll get more.  So grab a copy and read it.

Good to Great: 8th of my Books to Read

I brought myself into a challenge when I picked my 8th books to read.  Because like 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, it is equally a nose-bleeding read for me. LoL! Honestly, I dedicated a lot of time reading it.  I read over and over again for me to understand it clearly. Haha!  Sorry naman slow ako!  Another thing,  it consist of illustrations and I found it so challenging.  It was like I went back to college. Well,,,,,it's just part of my self-learning stage.  Kaya keri lang, no complain.

To make an introduction to the book,  "Good to Great" by Jim Collins was a result of a research with great people in about five years.  It is the answers on the question preyed in the mind of Jim Collins,

"Are these companies that defy gravity and convert long-term mediocrity or worse into long-tern superiority?  And if so, what are the universal distinguishing characteristics that cause a company to go from good to great?"

It is about how you take a good organizations and turn it into one that produces, sustain great results, using whatever definition of results best applies to your organization.

Oh ha! Di ba ibang level?

This book is definitely far from the level of my thinking.  But I know I can use all my lessons learned in the future or even in my daily deals in life.

And here are what I've learned from this book:

1. If you want to leap from good to great, you must employ a level 5 leader.

Level 5 Hierarchy
The author believes that potential level 5 leader exist around us,  if we just know what to look for, and that many people have potential to evolve into level 5.

2. The old adage "People are your most important asset" is wrong.  People are not your most important asset.  The right people are.

3. A primary task in taking company from good to great is to create a culture wherein people have a tremendous opportunity to be heard and ultimately for the truth to be heard.  Spending time and energy trying to "motivate" people is a waste of effort.  The real question is not, "How do we motivate our people?  If you have to right people, they will be self-motivated.  The key is to not de-motivate them.  One of the primary ways to de-motivate people is to ignore the brutal fact of reality.

4.  The good-to-great companies are more like hedgehogs-simple, dowdy creatures that know "one big thing" and stick to it, not like a foxes who are crafty, cunning creatures that know many things yet lack consistency.

5. A culture of discipline is not just about action.  It is about getting disciplined people who engage in disciplined thought and who then take disciplined action.

"Stop doing lists" are more important than "to do" lists.

6.  Crawl, walk, run "can be a very effective approach, even during times of rapid and radical technological change.  Technology is an essential driver in accelerating forward momentum.  but when used wrong-when grasped as an easy solution, without deep understanding of how it lines to a clear and coherent concept.  technology simply accelerates your own self-created demise.

7.  If you diligently and successfully apply each concept in the framework, and you continue to push in a consistent direction on the flywheel, accumulating momentum step by step and turn by turn, you will eventually reach breakthrough.  It  might not happen today, or tomorrow, or next week.  It might not even happen next year.  But it will happen

8.  It is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life.  And it is difficult to have a meaningful life without a meaningful work.  Perhaps, then, you might gain that rate of tranquility that comes from knowing that you've had a hand in creating something of intrinsic excellence that makes a contribution.  Indeed, you might even gain that deepest of all satisfactions; knowing that your short time here on earth has been well spent and that it mattered.

A good-to-great flywheel

I hope you learned a lot too with my book review.  It's very informative and inspiring too.  You can get a lot of good points during a transition of your organization or even your personal life or career.

Be great Yamisweeters!!

Midas Touch: 7th of my 15 Books to Read

Hola Yamisweeters!

Yipee! I'm on my 7th book.  I am beating my schedule for my goal this year to read about 15 books until December.  It's a feeling of self fulfilment, surpassing my own challenge. Hehehe!  For some I'm boring but this is my way on how to improve myself because I admit to myself that I have a lot to learn.  Even blogging is such a trying hard on my part because I have problems with composition and grammar but I believe that I can improve by way of reading and conversing.  Excuse me for that explanation (hihihi), what i've said is just a part of my insecurities. Yeah, but I'm coping up to beat that attitude, that's why I keep reading to realise my dream to be a writer and entrepreneur, like these two authors.(Lol!)

For now, while I'm working out for my dream, I'd like to share to you my latest read.

The second book of Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki.  This book is for entrepreneurs.  If you're thinking of starting your own business or you already have one and you want it to level up?  This book is a good investment because it gives fantastic insights and candid lessons to start and to succeed in business and entrepreneurship.   They shared their own stories on how they failed and how they became influential entrepreneurs in the United States and in the world.

The way they delivered their stories and the education they attained through experience makes me inspire to pursue my dream to be an entrepreneur in the near time.  I became so aggressive in looking for opportunities in business.  The five points of Midas Touch influenced not only to my aspiration as entrepreneur but also in dealing my everyday life.

Five points of Midas Touch:
1. Strength of Character
2. Focus
3. Your Brand
4. Relationship
5. The little things that count

I am so happy for this book, I learned a lot.  I am trying to apply those five points in pursuing my passion into photography.  I'm so encouraged with the following:

"The number of hours working or practicing for free also determines the level of success you will have in anything."

"Having a vision for something can be very powerful in accomplishment.  Be sure, mine is intact.  Seeing myself as victorious is a big first step and should stay in me in every step of the way.  Those who persevere, and those who take risks, have a real chance of acquiring the MIDAS TOUCH.  Most importantly, never give up.  And don't forget the learning curve.  Learn something new everyday."

"People often think a brand is a logo.  They think it's an advertising campaign or sales promotion.  It is none of these things.  A BRAND is two words: the 'Promise' you telegraph, and the 'Experience' you deliver."

"Business is easy. People are difficult.  Learning to deal with different people seems to be a process without end, and we can always learn more."

"Listening is a sign of respect.  Being interested rather than trying to be interesting is also a sign of respect.  Be respectful and you will win, not only in business but also in LIFE."

My greatest take away is that everyday is a journey of learning.  We don't need to go to expensive schools to achieve the lessons that we need to learn.  Every experience, whether good or bad are the ways of teaching.  And even the experience of other people.  The authors said, "Our creator gave us two eyes, two ears and only one mouth.  The message is: listen more, observe more and talk less."

If you want to read it, you can message me and I will lend it to you.

Thank you for dropping by, it's my pleasure to read comments from you.

Here are list of my books in case you missed it and wanna read my reviews:
1.The Alchemist
2. Tuesdays with Moorie
3. Eat That Frog
4. No Nonsense Personal Finance
5. Rich Dad Poor Dad
6. Why we want you to be Rich

I don't have the complete list yet.  Any recommendation?

Watch out for my next book: Good to Great by Jim Collins.  It's leadership book.  I look forward what can I learn from it.

Why we want you to be Rich: 6th of my 15 books to read

Kon’nichiwa Yamisweeters!

It’s been a while since I did my book review.  Well, I’m just so busy with taking a rest.  Ahihihi!  Since my kids are on vacation, I still do my own vacation.  Haaay!  It’s so nice sometimes you recharge yourself of just doing nothing.

Anyway, you read it right.  I am kinda Japanese in my greetings because the author of the book is a Japanese-American.  Just adding some twist.  It’s so nice learning different language even if it’s just saying hi or hello!

I’m gonna be direct to the point with my review.  This book polluted my mind to be an entrepreneur.  It says here to live beyond my means so expand your means.  It is in contrary with the finance books that says “live within your means”.  The two authors are pushing the reader to be an entrepreneur to help the lives of other people and also the government who collects more and more taxes to employees like me.  We need to act to uplift the economy.  Which is barely true.  Robert and Donald pointing out to have a financial education.  Like learn to acquire assets not liabilities.

The two authors gave several advises in starting a business.  They are very direct to the point in sharing their experiences that inspires me a lot.  They are both into real estate but they also explained that it is not for everybody.

Robert said, this book was to be about living life beyond one’s wildest dream.

Donald said,  “The worst thing is to learn hard lessons by doing before learning.  Learning in itself is an investment.”

And here are the thoughts that awaken my mind into financial education and business management.

“Ignorance can be more expensive than education and that certainly includes your financial education.  Do not let the fear of the unknown hinder your aspirations and you financial well-being.”

“Find yourself living the way you want to.  That’s freedom, that’s power and that’s winning.”

According to Robert,  to succeed is to FOCUS “Follow Once Course Until Successful”.

These are the 8 Integrities that make up a business.

For me it’s a very good presentation in managing small or big business. Concrete and concise.

“Vision remains vision until you focus, do the work and bring it down to earth where it will do some good.”

“Having your own business is like growing a tree-it’s a living organism that goes through seasons and storms and beautiful summer days and winter blizzards, but it keeps on growing and is literally an expression of yourself.”-Trump

Without passion you don’t have energy; without energy you have nothing.”
