Heart Detox

We are on vacation(stay-at-home, I mean). Hooray!!!!

As I prepare myself to 2016 I finished the book I got from Kerygma Conference.  Hindi ko matapos tapos ang pagbabasa because of the holiday season. And I got a chance today.  Yippee, I'm done and I'd love to share it to you.

But first, I want to share a moment and how I learned from kids.

We had this traditional family lunch.  Me, my hubby, my two sons and their cousin.  To open a conversation, I asked everyone one question about welcoming 2016.

"What will you do to make your 2016 better than 2015?"

My eldest son said, "I will practice guitar more to make me good in playing guitar."

My second son said, "I will study harder to have a better grades."

How about you(cousin), what will you do to make you better next year?

She started crying..... she said, she want her Mom to stay with her.  She don't know what she can do to make it happen.

OMG, my heart crashed and we all caught in silence seeing her with her #hugot.

We comforted her and shared some wisdom that an 11-year old girl can understand.

I know that she wanted to avoid that kind of situation but there's nothing she can do but to answer a Ninang like me.  She wanted help.  Whoops!!! I am in heavy heart.  In what way can we help her, all she want is a complete and a happy family.

Haaayyy!!!! Life isn't easy.  Full of worries, anxieties, fears, hopelessness, bitterness, insecurities, despair and all other emotional issues.

With all that, we want change.  We want to have a life that is sweet, happy, successful and hopeful.

But there is one question, are you ready to get rid of the garbage that you've carried in your heart for many years???

Yes, we need a heart detox for us to be healthy physically, emotional, mentally and spiritually.  This book is perfect on how are you going to welcome 2016.  Knowing how to handle toxic feelings, how to manage most difficult emotions and how to overcome bitterness, pettiness, despair, insecurity, worry and fear.

Here are the snippets from the book to have some overview on what you can read inside.

"Pause. Ponder. Pray.  because wisdom doesn't shout.  Wisdom speaks in whispers.  It's only when you're quiet inside that you'll hear the faint voice of wisdom speak to you."

"Be still, peace.  Let God give you great calm.  Emotional detachment.  Inner peace.  And when you have inner peace, you can hear God's voice and obey Him."

"And if you do what you have to do, something changes in you. If you change your acting, change your feeling.  If you change your motion, you change your emotion.  If you change your physiology, you change your psychology."

"When people hurt you, offend you, stress you----remember that you're a giant.  You're too big to be bothered by small things."

Modern psychologists are wrong when they say, "to deal with anger, you need to express it.  You need to let it out.  Shout, stomp, punch the wall.  Because when your bucket of anger is empty, it's gone." Problem: You don't have a bucket of anger, you have a faucet of anger.  As long as it's open, anger will flow out.  You won't run out of danger.  The more you express your anger, the more anger you create.  Again, it's the Law of Reciprocity.

What should you do?

Switch faucets!  Here's the only solution:  Close the faucet of anger and open the faucet of love!  Admit you're angry but give love instead.  Because aggression creates more aggression, but love creates more love.

How to love your enemy?

1. Do good to those who hate you.  Serve them. Give them gift.
2. Bless those who curse you.  That means don't gossip against your enemy.  Instead, speak well of him.  Speak the good things in his life.
3. Pray for him.  Pray for his well-being and prosperity.

Believe me, all that goodness you give him will bounce back to you---pressed down, shaken together and running over!

All of us dream to have inner peace, happiness, healthy body, more love and hope.  But there are situations that is out of our control and so it's important that we detoxify our heart for us to be ready for bad emotions that our environment bring us.  It's just a matter of how we handle our complicated life.

Stop worrying and start wishing.

Live with expectations.

Yamoment: Of Insecurities and Vulnerability

In the Yamoment blog series, I'd like to invite you to take a moment for mindfulness and reflection. I add some picture qoutes, new ideas I am learning and bible verses I find along the way.

Have fun!

Stay in the moment and enjoy the mindful living.

Lately, I've been into realization stage of my life I called "mid-life crisis".  I am becoming so mean for myself.  Never been satisfied for everything I have.  Asking for everything that I don't have. Never been proud of my talents.  Been envy to others' strength.  So narrow-minded for comments and suggestions.

God exposes myself to all my flaws, my shortcomings, my sins, my disappointments, and expectations from others.  Until I read this Weekly Wisdom and surrender to God. I barely accept that I am so vulnerable into temptations.

Source
Now, easily I am recovering for the slow moment of my life and aware that God's grace is enough for me to live according to His will.  I just love this passage in 2 peter 1:5-7,

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.”
Along the way of my own process, I will always remember God's promises as cited in Lamentations 3: 22-23

"We are still alive because the Lord's faithful love never ends.  Every morning he shows it in new ways! You are so very true and loyal."

                                                                                                    Have a blessed Thursday everyone!

Throwback Thursday: Jeju Island

Hello October!! It's my birth month, so timely for a throwback.  I would like to share my photos from our trip to Jeju Island last October, 2014.  I just love to reminisce the happy moments with my travel buddies.

We had a two-day tour at Jeju Island, South Korea.  Our tour was quite ruined because of the random down pour during the day.  But the fun and exciting can't be robbed with my witty travel buddies.

Here's our trip to Oedolgae Rock and Love Land.

I enjoyed most in Korea was the food.  I love it and I miss it.

By the way, it was exactly my birthday then.

                                                                                                                 Just sharing!

In the Yamoment blog series, I'd like to invite you to take a moment for mindfulness and reflection. I add some picture qoutes, new ideas I am learning and bible verses I find along the way.

Stay in the moment and enjoy the mindful living.

Whenever you feel rejected, just keep an eye on what you are trying to achieve and really keep focused on your vision.

If you are determined and you want it, you can just go for it.  It might might take away a very long time and it might be challenging but the egalitarian nature of that is what's exciting.

Above qoutes, touched my thoughts to be focused on my vision and stay on the path.  Success is along the way.

Have a great mindful day!

HENERAL LUNA: What can I say about the movie?

Hello Hello Yamisweeters!

Yeah, I am here to say something about what I did yesterday.  Viola! I watched a movie with my hubby.  Due to working holiday, we found time to do it! Yipee! And you should watch it too!

And what can I say about the movie, HENERAL LUNA?

Kudos to ARTIKULO UNO Productions for bringing this story into Philippine Cinema.  They have an awesome casts; perfectly portrayed the characters by veteran actors and promising neophytes. The beautiful cinematography and well-written screenplay gave the movie the atmosphere of the Philippine-American war.  It's a brilliant and exceptional work of Jerrold Tarog for the young of today.  He was able to showcase the political-economical conflicts among the leaders of the government, as well the Filipino culture and traits.  It's a fiction movie but based on facts.  John Arcilla showed his remarkable talent by acting a real military general.  And it was never a dull moment.  Entertainment factor is at stake, you will cry, laugh, be sad, be angry and feel pity.

After the movie, what can I say about Heneral Antonio Luna himself?

Oh wow! Antonio Luna was not emphasized very much on our history books on schools.  Hindi sya ganung kasikat like Jose Rizal, Emilio Aguinaldo at Andres Bonifacio.  But upon seeing this movie, wow! He's so brilliant! I admire his patriotism, his love for our country and his personal being. Yes, he was a very strict military leader. It's because he wanted to instill discipline to every Filipino.  He did not tolerate disobedience, half-heartedness, laziness, sloppiness and thoughtlessness.  He was fearless.  His bravery was awe-inspiring.

He was bond with naturally impressive memory and shared it through writing.

Here's the excerpt from one of his essay for a girl.
"her langour, her voice which reaches the soul, those rosy checks flushed with happiness the excitement and the fatigue of the dance, the shy glance from her dark eyes which mirror the soul like bright stars in dark sky......How much love, how much sweetness, how much affection in one night, in our Christmas eve in the Philippines."
So romantic!(kilig much)

Haaayyy! Bigla yata akong naging concern sa politics dahil sa movie.  Yes, a wake-up call for this coming election. Choose wisely!

Manood kayo, palabas pa!

                                                                                                         Just saying and sharing!

Day 6: A kiss

It's a sweet and intimate ways to show my love.

I grew up with non-intimate family.  We don't show much care to each other by gestures.  As a kid, showing love is just by providing the food on the table, clothes to wear, send to school and a lot of reminders.  But we usually not say "I love you", we don't hug, we don't pray together and definitely no kiss for the family.

When I was in high school, I lived with my sister and her husband.  She's so lucky to have a very sweet husband.  My brother-in-law used to kiss my sister every time he left the house and once arrived home.  When we go to church, during peace be with you portion, he kisses my sister on her forehead. I always go with them as if I was their eldest daughter.  For eight years living with them, I witnessed how powerful a kiss into a relationship. It can ease painful heart.  It can make you feel secured and loved. It can be the start of a good communication. And can tighten any kind of relationship(in-laws, friends, siblings and relatives).

I grew up with the ideal of my sister's family.  Their kids always show respect and love through kissing to their parents.  I am adapting it on my family of my own.

"Bible verses of the day"
"Your love must be real.  Hate what is evil.  Do only what is good.  Love each other in a way that makes you feel close like brothers and sisters.  And give each other more honor than you give yourself."- Romans 12:9-10

                                                                                                Kiss pa more everyday!

Day 5: An inanimate object that's important to me

An inanimate object that's important to me is my wedding ring.

It symbolizes of #myforever.  And I do believe in FOREVER.

                                                                                                                Just saying!

Day 4: A strange phone call

09/07/2015

A strange phone call

Consistent call every Monday morning for six months became strange to me.  It made me fall in love with the voice and the thought that he's happy just listening to my voice from afar.  He kept telling me that he's doing it for himself.  Talking about anything under the sun.  Laughing. Sharing. Saying ba-bye. Waiting for the next Monday.

That strange phone call became a routine and got me worried we he missed one.  I will never forget those strange Monday morning phone call.

It made me smile.
It made me feel special.
It made me feel loved.
It made me fall in love.
It made me wear wedding gown.
A home-maker.
A mother.

It remained strange because it changed my whole life.

                                                                                                                Be Strange!

Verse of the day:

From far away, the Lord will appear to his people.  The Lord says, "I love you people with a love that continues forever.  That is why I have continued showing you kindness."- Jeremiah 31:3

Day 3: My Mother

9/06/2015

"You will teach me the right way to live.  Just being with you will bring complete happiness.  Being at your right side will make me happy forever."-Psalms 16:11

She is 83 years old.
She don't know me.
She is fearful.
She needs affection.
She has Alzheimer's disease.

My mother is my life coach.
My first teacher.
My mirror.
My strength.
My happiness.
My hero.

You thought me a simple life.
You gave your life to me.
You've shown braveness.
You are strict and caring.
You are lovable deep in your heart.

You are my SuperMom!
